The Montclair Local is an important and valued community newspaper. The Executive Director and the Founder/Publisher of the Montclair Local live in our community, share our values and concerns and understand Montclair because they are part of it. They keep AIM members informed and make our voices heard!
The Executive Director, Anne Keyes and Heeten Choxi, the Founder/Publisher of the Montclair Local will join our Saturday Social zoom gathering. They will discuss how and why the Montclair Local formed in 2017, its accomplishments and its plans for the future. They also will highlight how local news organizations are changing their business models to make it in today’s challenging market dynamics of Google, Facebook and every other advertising aggregator.
Anne Keyes, as executive director of the Montclair Local Nonprofit News manages the day-to-day operations of the organization on behalf of the Local's board of directors. Her background is in:
public affairs and policy
has worked for Congress, the Executive Branch, and Zoetis
serves on St. Cassian School's foundation and the church's financial advisory committee.
Anne is a Maryland native who has lived in Montclair since 2008.
Heeten Choxi is the founder and chairman of the board of the Montclair Local Nonprofit News. He is:
a software engineering manager at Google, leading a team maximizing revenue from online advertising.
was a Senior Vice President of Two Sigma Investments LP from 2009-2019
was a research scientist at Lockheed Martin Advanced Technology Labs from 2004-2009.
is the treasurer of the Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is in Montclair.
Heeten is a native of Dover, Del., he holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in computer science from Drexel University, and has lived in Montclair since 2014.
