Taking Space: Contemporary Women Artists and the Politics of Scale

  • Montclair Art Museum Montclair, NJ, 07042 United States (map)

Join us at the Montclair Art Museum for a docent-led tour of MAM’s newest exhibition, Taking Space: Contemporary Women Artists and the Politics of Scale.  This show invites viewers to consider how space, size, scale and repetition can be interpreted as political gestures in the practices of many women artists.  The works you will see reveal the varied approaches of women artists for whom space is a critical feature of their work, whether they occupy significant space on walls or engage three-dimensionally with gallery spaces through sculpture and installation.

Following this informative one-hour tour, the museum’s Education team will be available at MAM’s Cornerstone Café from 2-3 pm for conversation about the museum’s program offerings for lifelong learners and the issues facing Montclair’s diverse aging community.

Refreshments will be available for purchase. You are also invited to explore other galleries, which remain open until 6 pm.

This program is free but RSVPs are required.  Call or email:
